Every 4th and 5th grade student at McKinley Elementary School participates in the music program.
Students in the 4th grade choose one of the following instruments:
General Music (includes singing, movement and playing of rhythmic and melodic instruments), Violin, Viola, Cello, Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, or Trombone.
Students in the 5th grade continue on the instrument they studied in 4th Grade or enroll in General Music. Those who did not learn to play an instrument in 4th Grade should choose General Music unless they make arrangements with the instrumental music teacher.
A limited number of school instruments will be available for students who need them. No 4th or 5th grade child will be excluded from the program. Providing an instrument for your child will ensure that he/she will be able to participate in their first choice of music class.
